The Jazz Gallerie is the building's interlocutor, with the challenge of being all traffic and doors, seen here under construction.
We're in the lobby doors in this photo, with doors to the Ballroom on the right, doors to the kitchen in the far right, doors to the bars and Palm Court Restaurant on the opposite wall, and a wall of windows on the left.
As a point of interest and contrast, since all guests pass through the gallerie, we used deep rich burgundy, heavy antique velvets, oversize tufted Victoriana sofas, tapestried arm chairs, and huge antique area rugs. A Banker's ceiling is a faux sky-light.
Antique style gasoliers light the room. Dozens of heavy gold framed oil paintings are lit with wall washers. Every place you turn is another intimate seating cluster.
The floor is wide plank teak set in a herringbone patter, adding a rich luster to the gallerie. A quiet room for conversation, after dinner drinks and cigars.
