To replace the small awning covered walkway from the curb, James Goodman designed a huge and highly visible Porte Cochere that could handle mulitple cars arriving and departing under protection from the elements. Construction started with a good foundation.
A basement course was created in bricks that matched the main building.
The superstructure of steel and wood, engineered to hold a slate roof and piles of snow, was closed in and slate slabs delivered for the roof.
The outside of the drive-through covered entrance.
Pavers, lanterns and majestic columns began finishing the extension.
Moldings, arches and dressed stone walls were added in drivit, blending into the shape of the rain gutters for a classical look
From far away, or viewed up close, the new Porte Cochere lends a gracious approach to the remodeled and refurbished clubhouse.
